MPAA Tenpin Bowling Section
Rules
- All club members must satisfy the
requirements of the Metropolitan Police Athletics Association (MPAA) club rules regarding membership.
- The Club is run by the MPAA Tenpin
Bowling Section committee in accordance with the constitution.
- The general playing rules of the game
of tenpin bowling are adhered to with the exceptions listed below and any special rules or amendments made at the AGM.
- The club events are announced at the
AGM and throughout the year. All are advertised on the website www.metbowling.com
- All members must be members of the
MPAA lottery to qualify for any subsidy offered.
Domestic
Rules.
- All domestic events are designated
four game series with the exception of the MPAA singles.
- All events and games played count
towards national selection
- Lanes are changed every two games
three lanes to the right.
- The MPAA singles is a six game
qualifying event and lanes are changed every two games three lanes to the right
- Averages are based on a rolling
season
- Averages are based on 66% difference
of bowlers average and 210
Police Sport UK (PSUK) Games
Qualification Rules
- PSUK games qualification requires that
bowlers must have bowled in five of the last 7 events in the last twelve months prior to selection date (selection date requested by PSUK) from the DOMESTIC calendar of events.
Police National Event Qualification
Rules
- National Event qualification requires
that 14 games from the current season/year be bowled to be eligible for selection into a MPAA team. This does not disbar selection of additional “non eligible” players being selected in certain
circumstances if a fully qualified compliment cannot be fulfilled.
- Each team member is selected by
average in strict order; with the exception of the required female player (should she not qualify by average into a selected team). In which case she will be placed into the lowest selected team
position.
- In any event there must be at least
one female attending or being given the option to attend any national event, but they must have the requisite number of eligible games to do so.
- If a player requests to attend who has
not been selected then they may make their own arrangements to play and travel subject to places being available at that event, but not so as to
disadvantage or deprive a club member selected of an official MPAA place at that event.
Domestic Event
Rules
Winter
league.
- The winter league will be a handicap
four event league with venues selected at the AGM or by consensus if a venue is unable to host after selection.
- A minimum of three events must be
played to qualify for an event position.
- Each event will consist of four games,
moving three lanes to the right after two games. The winner will be the bowler with the highest pinfall including handicap.
- Points are to be awarded to each
competitor with 16 for first, 15 second and so on. Equal pinfall will be given equal points.
- The league will be decided by the
player with the highest points from their best three out of four events, the lowest point position being allowed to drop for any player completing four events.
MPAA
Singles
- The MPAA singles will be a six game
qualifying event with a four person step ladder final in scratch and handicap divisions. Each player moving three lanes to the right after two games.
- The top four players scratch will
compete for the scratch division. From the remaining players the top four players including handicap will compete in the handicap division. The winner of the event will be the player with the highest
score in each division after the final step ladder tie has taken place. Should there be a tie in any step ladder then a 9 and 10th roll-off will take place. (1/10th handicap
will be used in the handicap section for each frame)
MPAA doubles Defunct (replaced with DD
Singles, Rules as per Winter League)
- The MPAA doubles will a handicap event
and consist of four games for each player moving after two games three lanes to the right.
- The doubles pairing will be selected
in relation to their rolling MPAA averages from the averages table posted on the website.
- The team with the highest score
including handicap will be the winners.
Ledner
Shield
- This will consist of four games, moving three lanes to the right after two games. The winner will be the bowler with the highest pinfall including handicap.
- There will also be a Triplex event run
for the first three games of the four. The forth game will be included in any drawn Triplex scores and included in any strike countback.
