Colours

·         Four people were nominated to receive their colours from the section they were Dan Meaton, Pat Broom and Cliff Cox and Jim Kenny. It was agreed that members would nominate their choice and e-mail Jon Greengrass their selections.

W.P.F.G.

·         This years event is in New York and likely to be the biggest event ever with 600-800 bowlers attending. It was agreed that as in previous years the club would put some funds into the members wishing to travel and bowl. This would be discussed at a separate time and date.

P.S.U.K Games

·         Some issue were raised regarding this tournament. Barry raised the points of the format and the lane condition. It was suggested that extra events such as a veteran’s competition could be included to keep peoples interest for longer and other competitions to run in parallel with the main event. These suggestions will be brought to the attention of Tom Walsh at the next AGM for the Nationals. Barry made the point that there are now more bowlers attending and changes are needed as the number of games being played is an issue and the competition drags on for too long. Tom Walsh’s election as P.S.U.K. secretary was discussed and will be reviewed by the club at the next National AGM.

·         Selection of our teams for potters was discussed. Currently our top two male and female bowlers attend. Barry and Julie suggested new approach to selection process. Jon suggests order of merit average or club average as means of selection. Paul Hunt suggested 18 qualifying games as opposed to the current 12, but only for Potters to make it fairer. Jon then suggested to qualify bowlers must have bowled in five of the last 7 events in the last twelve months. This was put to the vote and passed unanimously.

·         Shirts for potters were discussed. Barry stated that it would be nice to see a corporate image at the National championships, and that the club might put some money into this idea.

A.O.B.

·         Barry and Julie Eason suggested all club competitions should be four games and not three as it is currently but the qualifying games for National competitions raised to 16 from the current 12. Cost rise is minimal. Put to a vote and passed.

·         Barry also suggested bowling two games then moving 3 lanes right as we are bowling four games now. This was also agreed and will be published on the website for all bowlers’ information. Jon suggested a change to the triplex competition in view of the four games rule. We would have a normal three frame triplex and then four frames as a strike count competition.

·         Geoff Mitchell suggests entering teams into external competitions.

·         Eric suggests a five pound prize for the bowler finishing last. Voted on, Not taken up by the club.

·         Discussion followed around a new sponsor for the section from Collier Row bowl in the form of lineage discounts, shirts and others options to be followed up by Jon when the centre manager returns from holiday.

·         Jon then mentioned that Matt Miller senior had wanted to be more involved in the club but has failed to attend the AGM as agreed. Await outcome of call from Jon.

·         Jon is looking into New shirts for the section, it was agreed that the new shirts be same in material as the previous ones favoured by all bowlers. Discussion took place about national tournaments and if we can have four teams but only have 15 qualified bowlers are members happy to have a make up bowler who is not qualified. Agreed.
